Stella at Star Metals is a 545,000-square-foot, 22-story multifamily development located in Atlanta’s vibrant West Midtown neighborhood, offering 327 residences ranging from studios to penthouses. Designed by Dwell Design Studio and Oppenheim Architecture, the project reimagines a former industrial site as a modern residential landmark, blending contemporary design with the area’s historic character. Amenities including a hotel-style lobby, rooftop pool and lounge, fitness center, screening room, and curated retail and dining spaces create a dynamic living experience that connects residents to the surrounding community.
The building’s distinctive exterior is defined by copper-toned cladding, green roof elements, and a rhythmic grid of windows that reference the neighborhood’s industrial past while introducing a refined, modern aesthetic. A key feature of the design is its curvilinear form, achieved through carefully engineered facade systems that create the appearance of continuous, flowing glass surfaces.
To support the project’s design and performance goals, multiple YKK AP systems were utilized, including YWW 50 TU and YWW 60 TU Window Wall, YCW 750 XT Curtain Wall, YSD 600T Balcony Doors, and 35 XT Thermal Entrances, all finished in a dark bronze anodized coating. The combination of window wall and curtain wall systems provided a cost-effective solution that delivers high thermal and acoustical performance while maintaining the clean, modern aesthetic of the facade. YKK AP worked closely with the project team to develop customized profiles that minimized sightlines and supported the building’s unique geometry.
Fabricated and installed by Glass Systems Inc., with construction led by Brassfield Gorrie, the high-performance facade enhances occupant comfort, energy efficiency, and long-term durability. Stella at Star Metals exemplifies YKK AP’s ability to deliver innovative, design-forward enclosure solutions that elevate urban living environments while honoring the character of their surroundings.
