YKK AP Offers Architects and Installers a "Dry-Glaze" Option for the Protection from Large Missile Impacts & the Fierce Cyclical Winds Associated with Hurricanes

Atlanta, Ga. (July 17, 2007) — YKK AP® has introduced a "dry-glaze" option for many of our popular YKK AP ProTek® systems.

“Dry-Glaze” option to reduce costs:
The YKK AP ProTek entrance and storefront systems are now available with Dry Glaze Dupont SentryGlas Plus for large missile applications.

Historically, ensuring the integrity of a building envelop from large missile impacts and the strong cyclical winds associated with hurricanes required a large bead of structural silicone to bond laminated glass to the framing systems. The design of the YKK AP ProTek systems and the properties of the Dry Glaze Dupont SentryGlas Plus enable a gasket to replace the interior structural silicone seal. The use of an interior gasket lowers material and labor costs, improves the aesthetic appearance of the application, and helps to mitigate quality concerns associated with the field application of structural silicone.

YKK AP, working with Dupont, successfully passed all of the testing requirements of ASTM E-1886/E-1996 and the TAS 201, 202, & 203 standards. YKK AP has received Florida Product Approvals and is in the process of obtaining Miami Dade County Notice of Acceptance. Please contact your local YKK AP representative for additional information on the “dry glaze” versions of the YKK AP ProTek systems.
