Austell, Ga. (August 10, 2007) — This month, YKK AP will formally launch a full line glazing systems specifically designed and tested to provide protection to building inhabitants from terrorist attacks.

Blast Mitigation Glazing Systems
YKK AP ProTek®, the number one name in hurricane impact resistance glazing systems, now offers protection from the dagger like flying glass debris that account for the majority of injuries in a terrorist attack.

The majority of the YKK AP ProTek systems meet the requirements of the UFC (Unified Facilities Criteria). Now the ProTek entrance, storefront, curtain wall and window systems have been tested in accordance with ASTM F-1642 and GSA-TS01. Each system passed at test loads and performance levels required for the majority of DoD and GSA projects.

  • The entrance door, storefront and curtain wall systems were successfully tested without an interior structural silicone seal (dry glazed) to help lower the cost of protection.
